The Leader of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, Imam Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei, issued a message on the occasion of the 37th anniversary of the passing of Imam Khomeini (may his secret be sanctified), during a commemoration ceremony at his shrine in Tehran.
The Friday Prayer Imam of Tehran, Sheikh Mohammad Javad Ali-Akbari, read the message of Seyyed Khamenei, in which he emphasized: “The Iranian people today take pride in their belonging to the Resistance Front, as a result of what the two Imams, Khomeini and Khamenei, have accomplished.”
Seyyed Khamenei stressed that: “The hegemonic system created a military base called ‘Israel,’ and Iran will not retreat from its position regarding ‘Israel.'” He stated that: “The enemy wanted to topple the resilience of the people in Iran and wanted to sow discord within the Iranian interior. We have succeeded in defeating the enemy’s schemes, and any broadcasting of a negative vision among the people is considered within the framework of supporting aggression.”
Furthermore, Seyyed Khamenei pointed out in his message that: “After its defeat on the battlefield, Iran’s enemy is seeking to harm the people’s resilience and create internal divisions,” warning that: “The hegemonic system will spare no effort in taking any measures to prevent Iran from advancing.”
**The following is the text of the message:**
In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful.
“Praise be to God who made the perfection of His religion and the completion of His favor through the *Wilayah* (guardianship) of the Commander of the Faithful, Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him).
I congratulate all Muslims and the lovers of the father of the Islamic Ummah, the Commander of the Faithful Ali (salutations and peace of God be upon him), in Iran and around the world, on the happy Eid al-Ghadir, and I send my greetings and peace to the pure soul of Imam Khomeini (may God have mercy on him).
This year marks the thirty-seventh year since the departure of the Great Khomeini, and it is the first 14th of Khordad (June 4) in which the compassionate father of the nation, the loyal and prominent disciple and companion of the Imam’s school, the great leader of the Islamic Revolution, His Eminence the Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei (may God elevate his sanctified status), is a guest at the banquet of God. His robust voice and his wise, penetrating words are no longer heard at the Imam’s purified shrine. However, the collection of statements and writings of the founder of the Islamic Republic over ten years, and of the great departed (the Martyred Leader) over thirty-six years, is a valuable and unique treasure for all of us, and a light that illuminates the path of the future.
Firstly, today is Eid al-Ghadir, and it is the Greatest Eid of God; the day of the pledged covenant and the taken oath, in which God defined the duty of managing the society and the Islamic system, perfected the religion, and completed the favor with the continuous *Wilayah* and Imamate of the Infallible Imams (salutations of God be upon them all).”
Ghadir reminds us of that person who, every moment of his noble life, from his birth in the Kaaba until he achieved the victory of martyrdom, was for God and in the path of God. Accordingly, that Imam, after the existence of the Noble Messenger Muhammad (peace be upon him and his progeny), is considered in all stages of his life, for all Muslims and believers, the supreme example and the comprehensive role model. It is worthy and appropriate for everyone to follow him, from the small child to the elderly, and from the common people to the elite and the leaders. Likewise, the certificate of honor in the life of the two leaders of the revolution (Imam Khomeini and Leader Khamenei) was the following of that great Imam.
Secondly, today is the anniversary of the passing of the Imam of the nation (may God have mercy on him), and it is a valuable opportunity to think and converse about this famous figure, who has not yet been truly realized and understood. An attractive personality whose deep understanding of his path and his luminous goal is a light that illuminates the future of Islamic Iran; but many members of the nation, in their youth, were not fortunate enough to directly perceive this personality, and indeed, many who lived through his life did not reach the depth of the Imam’s personality and his line.
God Almighty said: *(Say: “I advise you one thing: that you stand up for God, in pairs and singly.”)* This noble verse is the opening of the first message and one of the oldest documents in which the unique personality, the righteous servant, and the great soul of our era and our time, the great leader of the revolution and founder of the Islamic Republic, called the Iranian nation to stand for God. Yes, standing for God is the foundation of the Imam’s school, and among the most important effects and blessings of his existence is the guidance, upbringing, and immense influence on society based on this foundation. This divine movement is the source of the descent of divine blessings and providences, and the flow of the law of Truth (the Majestic and Exalted) in guiding society to the path of Truth, as He said: *(And those who strive for Us – We will surely guide them to Our ways).*
Is it not true that the most important comprehensive popular movements and mass uprisings in Iran were achieved in the era of the Great Khomeini and the great Martyred Leader Khamenei, under their direct or indirect guidance?
What great power was able to awaken the sleeping nation, infatuated with arrogance and colonialism, in the shadow of the dominance of stagnation, oppression, and comprehensive dependence on the West, on the 15th of Khordad 1342 (June 4, 1963)? And what attractive power was able to draw millions to the streets on the 12th of Bahman 1357 (February 1, 1979) to celebrate their leader (welcoming Imam Khomeini), and on the 14th of Khordad 1368 (June 4, 1989) to lay the Imam of the nation to rest? And in the latest astonishing example, what solid power and iron will was it that revived the Iranian nation and brought it into the field since the dawn of the 10th of Esfand 1404 (February 28, 2026), and with a noble motive, they remain, after more than three months, present with enthusiasm, to demand the blood of their martyred leader and the other martyrs whose blood was shed, to protect the sanctity of the Islamic system and their dear homeland, and they established ranks of tens of millions of devoted followers to achieve the goals of the martyred leader and establish the Truth and stand for God?
Yes, it was the Great Khomeini and the great Martyred Leader Khamenei who discovered and revived this readiness and preparedness in the dear Iranian nation, and they always attached special importance to them. The great Imam, who practiced what he preached thanks to his exemplary piety, put forward a great claim in his will, writing: “I boldly claim that the Iranian nation, with its millions of masses, in the current era, is better than the nation of Hijaz in the era of the Messenger of God (peace be upon him and his progeny), and the nation of Kufa and Iraq in the era of the Commander of the Faithful and Hussein ibn Ali (salutations and peace be upon them).”
Today, the entire dear Iranian nation is proud that, with its new uprising, alongside the Resistance Front, it has become a source of pride and honor before the eyes of the aware world and free peoples, and has re-embodied the truth of this passage from Imam Khomeini’s will. In the words of the Martyred Leader (may God elevate his sanctified status): That strong hand which was able to move the waves of the great ocean of the nation, was the iron personality, the confident heart, and the tongue that resembled the Zulfiqar of the great Imam and the Great Khomeini, which was able to bring millions into the field, keep them there, and teach them the direction of the movement.
Of course, the other example of this type of influence is that of the dear Khamenei, who followed in the footsteps of his righteous predecessor, led the revolution and the Islamic system for nearly four decades, and brought society, through his trust in the youth and the deepening and raising of the level of awareness and thinking of the people, to a degree of readiness that caused, after his great martyrdom, a new standard of the Iranian nation’s uprising to form.
Yes, the school of the dear Khamenei is the same school of the Great Khomeini, extending along the line of pure Muhammadan Islam (peace be upon him and his progeny), the basis of which is “Standing for God.” And the students of this school, rank after rank, are ready to establish the Truth, remove the Falsehood, and struggle in this luminous path. Imam Khomeini (may God have mercy on him) was the creator of a great and historical transformation at the level of Iran, the Islamic Ummah, and the world, and the Martyred Leader (may God elevate his sanctified status) took charge of deepening, expanding, and continuing it, and built the system and society to develop and realize it.
In this context, and in addition to keeping the Imam’s school alive in speech, pen, and action, and in his numerous meetings, the Martyred Leader turned the 14th of Khordad (June 4) into an opportunity for the nation’s annual covenant with Imam Khomeini, and explained and clarified a system of principles, policies, and lines of the Imam’s school.
Among some of those teachings which have perhaps been repeated is that the Iranian nation is a believing, intelligent, and courageous nation; that the people are the original owners of the country and the source of its strength; and that these people, if they pursue any correct transformation, can bring it about, and embody the slogan “We Can” in various fields. Among those teachings also is the necessity of supporting the oppressed as an Islamic, humanitarian, and Iranian duty. And that the hegemonic and arrogant system, led by America, has a problem with this nation, its distinct identity, and its refusal to submit.
Yes, the system of hegemony and arrogance, which established a barracks called “Israel” nearly eighty years ago, does not accept the existence of a strong, independent Iran possessing all kinds of advantages on the eastern borders of the false and fake geography of what is called “Greater Israel,” i.e., east of the Euphrates, and does not hesitate to take any action to prevent its progress. In this regard, I say to the dear nation: The malicious enemy, after being defeated in its confrontation with your courageous sons in the armed forces, and especially after tasting—in confronting the harsh blow, whether in the military battle or in the field and the streets—a deep and expressive humiliation that led to a tangible decline in countries’ support for it, has focused its malice in its hybrid war on two points: First, the people’s ability to resist and endure, and second, causing an error in the calculation apparatus of the officials in the country. Its main tool in these two points is sowing the seeds of doubt, despair, fear, suspicion, and discord. Therefore, in the position of confronting these hostilities, everyone must, through resilience, insight, maintaining unity, cohesion, and mutual trust, and by not going along with the enemy, thwart its sinister plan. In this position, the role of officials in supporting these matters is of utmost importance. Any action that leads to suspicion and frustration among the members of the people is considered a form of helping the enemy against this country and its people.
Now, a new opportunity has been provided to show and realize the school of the Great Khomeini and the dear Martyred Khamenei in a practical way, as two oppressed but powerful leaders, and of course, victorious ones, all over the world. This important role rests on the shoulders of all members of the nation, especially the youth, the elite, and the people of thought, culture, and art, based on this same school, with trust in God’s promises, in the shadow of the providences of our Master (may God hasten his honorable reappearance), and on the path of pure Islam, i.e., the luminous line drawn in the two-hundred-and-fifty-year period of the presence of the People of Infallibility and the Great *Wilayah* (salutations and peace of God be upon them all), to build the bright future of dear Iran.
I ask the Almighty, Omnipotent God to grant this risen, awakened nation success for final victory and the peak of greatness and wonderful prosperity, and to join the angelic spirits of the two leaders of the revolution and the pure spirits of the martyrs of the Islamic Revolution, especially the martyrs of the Second and Third Holy Defense, with their master, the Commander of the Faithful Ali (salutations and peace of God be upon him), and that the sanctified, luminous heart of our Master, the Master of the Age and Time, be pleased with the Iranian nation, and that He make this dear nation and its servants beneficiaries of the special supplications and intercession of that Imam, by His grace and generosity.
