I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan.
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds, and I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, the Sovereign, the Manifest Truth, and I bear witness that our master Muhammad is His servant and messenger, the Seal of the Prophets.
O Allah, send prayers upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad, and bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, as You prayed and blessed Ibrahim and the family of Ibrahim; indeed, You are All-Praiseworthy, All-Glorious. And may You be pleased, O Allah, as You are pleased, with his chosen, righteous companions, and with the rest of Your righteous and striving servants.
O brothers and sisters:
Peace be upon you, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.
May Allah increase our reward and yours on the anniversary of the martyrdom of the grandson of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and his family), Imam Husayn ibn Ali (peace be upon them both).
It is where the great calamity and the immense tragedy took place, as the faction of hypocrisy and evil, which had turned away from Islam, led by the tyrants of the Banu Umayya, committed the heinous crime of killing the grandson of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and his family) and his authentic continuation in guiding the Ummah. Of him, the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and his family) said: “Husayn is of me, and I am of Husayn. Allah loves whoever loves Husayn. Husayn is a grandson among the grandsons.” And he said of him and his brother Al-Hasan (peace be upon them both): “Al-Hasan and Al-Husayn are the masters of the youth of Paradise, and their father is better than them both.”
The faction of evil and tyranny, and the movement of hypocrisy—which, as a result of a terrible deviation, had managed to seize the reins of the Ummah’s affairs—advanced to kill him, employing all the resources of the Islamic state to achieve its satanic goals:
* To distort the concepts of Islam.
* To corrupt the Muslim society and enslave it.
* To exploit the wealth of the Muslim Ummah in a way that strengthens the control of that satanic faction on one hand, and to facilitate their luxury, recklessness, and corruption on the other.
At that time, what the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and his family) had warned the Islamic Ummah about was manifested: that the consequence if the tyrants of the Banu Umayya managed to seize control of it is “that they will take the religion of Allah as a sham, His servants as slaves, and His wealth as [a private] fortune”—meaning they would monopolize the wealth, capabilities, and resources of the Ummah for their own interests, control, recklessness, luxury, and to bribe consciences.
The evil exacerbated, and the danger to Islam and the Muslims grew grave with the enabling of the cursed tyrant, Yazid ibn Mu’awiya, and his installation to be the ruler of the Muslims, while he was the exact opposite of Islam. He openly displayed:
* His disregard for Islam.
* His hatred for the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and his family).
* His denial of the revelation given to the Prophet and the Message itself.
* He declared immorality, depravity, and violated sacred sanctities with complete audacity and shamelessness.
* He saw the Muslims only as his slaves, considering their blood, honor, and wealth permissible for himself.
The danger reached such a level that Imam Husayn (peace be upon him) said: “If the Ummah is afflicted by a leader like Yazid, then bid farewell to Islam.”
