### Translation
After this preceding discussion about the role of **divine planning** in shaping both individual and social movement in order to restrain the deviation of human society, we return to the **revolution of Imam al‑Husayn (peace be upon him)** to see how what we have mentioned applies to it.
It was previously explained that the Qur’anic text in **Sūrat Yūsuf (peace be upon him)** clearly states that the hand of divine decree charted the course of the Prophet Joseph’s rise to official positions. The same can be observed in the case of **Imam al‑Husayn (peace be upon him)**, except that the difference is that divine decree destined him to attain the station of **the Master of Martyrs**, whereas the Prophet Joseph (peace be upon him) rose to the position of **the Aziz of Egypt**.
Reports have been transmitted in numerous narrations from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) stating that **Imam al‑Husayn (peace be upon him) would be killed as a martyr in the path of Allah**, and that those who would kill him would claim affiliation with Islam. This prophetic foretelling reveals several matters:
**First:**
The path of the Muslim community after the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) would deviate from the straight path of truth. The community would lose its way, follow its desires, and deviate from the values and principles of religion. For aggression against the **sons of the prophets (peace be upon them)** is itself evidence of the collapse of spiritual and moral values within society.
How then could such aggression occur against those whom the Qur’an declared purified from every impurity, however slight:
> “Indeed, Allah only desires to remove defilement from you, O People of the Household, and to purify you with a thorough purification.”
And the Noble Qur’an proclaimed verses that are recited at all times commanding affection for them:
> “Say: I ask of you no reward for it except love for the near relatives.”
It has also been transmitted from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) that loving them is obligatory; that loving them is part of loving him; that he is from them and they are from him; that loving them is faith and hating them is disbelief; and that the community must follow them because they are the counterpart of the Qur’an, who will never lead the community away from guidance nor return them to misguidance.
Therefore, the Prophet’s foretelling of the martyrdom of **the Master of Martyrs**, and that those who would kill him would be upon misguidance, is clear and explicit evidence in the Prophet’s statements that the community would deviate from the path of truth.

**Second:**
The divine practice that has operated among nations is to appoint a **standard of guidance and a beacon of piety** that stands as a barrier against deviation from the path of truth that misguided communities have followed. This divine pattern has also occurred within the Muslim community just as it occurred in earlier nations.
The Qur’an informs us that the Muslim community would deviate just as previous societies deviated. The Qur’an and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) pointed to the guides who would come after him. It has been widely transmitted that the one who would carry the banner of guidance and drive a wedge into the path of deviation would be **the Master of Martyrs, Imam al‑Husayn (peace be upon him)**.
For this reason, many narrations liken **Imam al‑Husayn (peace be upon him)** to **the Prophet John (Yahya) son of Zechariah (peace be upon them)**, who confronted the tyranny of the ruler and paid for that stance with his life. Allah then avenged him by the killing of seventy thousand from the Children of Israel until the boiling of his pure blood was avenged.
Thus, the reform movement of **Imam al‑Husayn (peace be upon him)** within the Muslim community is part of the chain of divine decree and the divine pattern of sending those who stand against deviation and restore society to the correct path, reviving within it the spirit of religion after it had been overtaken by the spirits of desire and misguidance.
**Third:**
Righteousness and deviation in society proceed side by side, and each has its leaders and guides: leaders who guide by the command of Allah and leaders who guide toward the Fire. The arena of their struggle is **society itself**.
The leaders of guidance aim at saving society from corruption in this world and punishment in the Hereafter
