The Leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran, Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei, in a meeting with the Assembly of Experts on Thursday, spoke about the fundamental responsibilities of the officials of the Islamic system, the importance of being realistic in seeing our strengths and weaknesses, feeling proud of the revolutionary and religious youth, not being negligent in regards to the enemy, clear cut boundaries against the arrogant powers, courage in the face of the enemy and also the importance of understanding the capabilities of the nation.
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution started his talk by pointing towards the special status of the Assembly of Experts in the framework of the system. He said: “The gathering of scholars, notable personalities and jurists of the Iranian nation in the sitting of the Assembly of Experts always holds importance however this importance increases in certain conditions and situations such as the current conditions.”
Ayatollah Khamenei highlighted some of the occurrences taking place in the world right now and the need to understand them as true realities. He stated: “The start of major changes in the world and this region, and the clear signs of those changes appearing at different points, such as North Africa, Asia and Europe, is a reality today. We must be watchful of these transformations and through these observations; we must carry out an in-depth research about them”
His Eminence went on to remind the gathering about the troubled state of the arrogant powers today as being another reality that we have to understand. He said: “One of the signs of the disruption of visible peace, is the American and European economic crisis that is in the process of becoming clearer as the cause of their economic bankruptcy.”
The Supreme Leader further went onto speak about the cultural deterioration of the Western culture as yet another reality. He explained: “Massacres, violence, corruption and lewdness that leads to distortions such as propagation of gay marriage, open support for barbaric terrorism in the region and the open insulting of religious sanctities and personalities are clear examples of the defeat of western civilization in the field of ethics.”
The Leader went onto to speak about the connection of the uprisings in the region to Islam. He said: “Now it has become clear that this awakening had a connection with Islam, and even though in the apparent they have silenced this, the spirit of self-confidence and the Islamic identity will never be lost and even now it has not been lost.”
Analysing the Islamic Revolution of Iran in comparison to other revolutions around the world, Ayatollah Khamenei stated: “The reality is that the Islamic Revolution of Iran, unlike the norm in other revolutions in the world, has remained prosperous. Even after three decades since its victory it speaks of and works towards achieving great objectives [such as] Islam, independence, national resistance, internal development and justice.
Regarding showing pride towards the new generation of religious and revolutionary youth and stressing the importance of understanding them, the Supreme Leader stated: “The status of the current generation of youth is higher than the status of the first generation of youth in the revolution. This is because the youth today have not seen the victory of the revolution, the issues that followed it and they are exposed to a variety of negative effects of things such as the cyber space and satellite channels, yet still, they remain religious and they stand behind the revolution.”
His Eminence continued: “Fortunately, the officials of this country, and specifically the officials of the new government, are aware of the immeasurable potential available internally and they believe in making use of it.”
Ayatollah Khamenei mentioned the importance of not underestimating the enemy. He said: “Until the Islamic system and the Iranian nation is bound to the principles of Islam, the revolution and independence, the enemy will not leave their animosity, therefore, we must not become negligent of the enemy.”
“The arrogant powers have a deep-rooted hatred towards the nation of Iran and today, the complete depth of the animosity and spite of the enemy can be seen in their speech.”
He continued: “Even with this deep animosity and hatred the enemy is incapable challenging the Islamic system. As a result of their incapability they have resorted to sanctions which they themselves know have been useless since the establishment of the revolution.”
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution congratulated the three branches of government on the cooperation with one another. He stated: “The consensus that exists today between the heads of the three branches of government and also the governmental officials, including the respected President and his advisors, on the topic of the resistance economy promises that by the blessings of God, the resistance economy will overcome the sanctions and tricks of the government.”
His Eminence instructed government officials to understand the frontlines in the battlefield against the enemy. He advised: “The officials must have clear and apparent boundaries in the front with the enemy, especially during the current conditions. Some people should not think that if we surrender in front of the enemy, our problems will be resolved.”
“I am truly grateful to those officials that took a stand in opposition to the enemy and announced through this that the nation of Iran and the Islamic revolution are not passive.”
His eminence reminded the gathering of what America has become on the world stage and how they are portrayed by their own people. He stated: “Today the enemies of the nation of Iran are part of the most notorious of the world. On the international stage the government of America is known as a ruthless and criminal actor that is a violator of human rights. Inside America they are also known to be as a deceitful and hypocritical regime and today, the trust of the people of America towards their government is at its lowest level.”
“Therefore, we cannot give way to fear from a government that has so little honour and if we are with God and we work for Him, God will surely aide us.”
In conclusion, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei explained the next step to take regarding these discussions.
“That matter which has been discussed must turn into public discourse and popular belief and what is necessary for this to happen is a rational and academic explanation of these issues in a simplistic and eloquent language.”
