Allamah al-Amili, who was a religious scholar, an expert in the history of Islam and Shi’ism, a Shi’ah biographer, and a scholar of the Islamic Seminaries of Qom and Najaf, passed away at the age 75 in the Lebanese capital of Beirut.
The text of the statement of this revered source of emulation is as follows:
In the Name of God, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
“Indeed we belong to God and to Him do we indeed return” [The Holy Quran 2:156]
It is with great regret that we received the news of the death of the great scholar, the true defender of Islam and guardianship, Allamah Haj Sayyid Ja’far Murtadha al-Amili.
He was a person who spent his blessed life correctly presenting the history of Islam and the truthful Ja’fari school of thought, responding to doubts, defending the illuminating teachings of the Ahl al-Bayt and who presented dozens of exquisite and valuable books to the Islamic world, the Islamic Seminaries and researchers in this field.
The loss of this cleric is an injury and loss for the scientific and religious centres.
I offer my condolences on the painful tragedy of the death of this blessed [scholar] to the prominent scholars, Islamic Seminaries and academics, especially the noble people of Lebanon and his honourable family. I ask God to grant a lofty station for his pure soul and to grant beautiful patience and great reward for those who remain.
