The secretary general of Iraq’s Ahdullah Movement has sharply criticized recent remarks by the US President Donald Trump about the Islamic Republic of Iran, warning that any act of aggression against the country would trigger widespread regional consequences.
Hawzah News Agency– In a strongly worded statement, Hojatoleslam Seyyed Hashem al-Haidari said Trump’s comments demonstrate what he described as a lack of understanding of Iran’s political-religious structure, popular support base, and regional influence.
Al-Haidari said that Washington is miscalculating Iran’s internal cohesion and the ideological foundations of its leadership system, adding that any military confrontation would, in his words, lead to outcomes marked by heavy losses and humiliation for the aggressor.
Quoting Quranic verses on steadfastness and victory, the Iraqi cleric framed resistance to foreign pressure as a religious and moral duty, and claimed that threats against Iran would not weaken the country but instead strengthen regional opposition to US and Israeli policies.
He warned that an attack on Iran could ignite what he described as a “regional volcano,” with repercussions extending across multiple theaters in West Asia. Al-Haidari linked potential escalation to broader tensions involving Iraq, Lebanon, and Palestine, and said popular movements in the region would not remain passive in the face of military action.
The Iraqi movement leader also accused the United States of continued interference in regional affairs and rejected imposed political dictates on regional nations. He said regional populations would resist external pressure and coercive strategies.
Al-Haidari further noted that large numbers of supporters of resistance movements across the region remain prepared to mobilize if conflict expands, portraying this as part of a broader deterrent environment shaped by non-state and state actors aligned against US and Israeli interests.
His remarks come amid continued tensions between Washington and Tehran, with regional political and religious figures increasingly issuing statements warning against escalation and calling attention to the risk of a wider confrontation.
