Major General Mohsen Rezaei, a member of the Expediency Discernment Council and military advisor to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, affirmed that the epic participation of the Iranian people in the farewell and funeral ceremonies for the Grand Ayatollah, the Martyr Imam Seyyed Ali al-Hosseini Khamenei (may God be pleased with him), “will impose despair and hopelessness upon the current leaders of America.” He added that “the grief of this tragedy has permeated hearts to such a degree that many peoples of the world have wept for him and have sent curses upon the oppressive leaders of America and the Zionist entity.”
In a message addressed to the Iranian people today, Friday, July 3, 2026, the former Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said: “The glorious and strengthening period of leadership by the wise and heroic martyr of Islamic Iran has inscribed immortal and unforgettable pages in the history of this land. That great man, who loved his homeland and possessed deep insight, led the vast vessel of the Iranian people—which had already begun its voyage after Imam Khomeini (may God have mercy on him)—with wisdom and steadfastness.”
Major General Rezaei added: “The entire world has seen with its own eyes that the painful incident of his martyrdom, along with a group of courageous commanders, has not only failed to create any disruption in the country’s power and national cohesion, but has instead transformed into a great movement and a major revolution within the country.”
He continued: “The grief of this tragedy has permeated hearts to such a degree that many peoples of the world have wept for him and have sent curses upon the oppressive leaders of America and the Zionist entity.”
Major General Rezaei further stated: “And now, as you, the noble people, prepare to escort his pure body in a final farewell, this unique opportunity to create the greatest epic in the history of Iran—a funeral of millions—will not only impose despair and hopelessness upon the current leaders of America, but will forever erase any thought of aggression against Iran from their minds and consign it to the winds.”
He added: “I, as a small soldier and one who would sacrifice himself for you, ask of you, through your unique and majestic presence in the funeral ceremonies in the cities of Tehran, Qom, and Mashhad, and with your resounding slogans and hands full of love and sincerity, to entrust the pure body of that high-ranking martyr to the angelic presence of the Greatest Prophet, Muhammad al-Mustafa (peace be upon him and his family).”
He concluded by saying: “Be certain that the luminous path of Imam Khomeini (may God have mercy on him) and the Martyr Imam (may God be pleased with him) will continue with strength and solidity, without any hesitation.”
