Ayatollah al-Modarresi called for the formation of a cultural and moral movement in Iraq

Rasa – A senior Iraqi scholar stated that the war-torn country’s authorities and people must end the legacy of the dictatorship of Saddam Husayn by formulating a cultural and moral movement.
RNA – In his weekly message to the people of Iraq, Ayatollah Sayyid Muhammad-Taqi al-Modarresi called on the people of this country to overcome the existing problems and crises by trusting in God Almighty and said, “People who have been able to put living through a very difficult time during the former dictatorship [of Saddam Husayn] and the destructive wars behind them can now end their political and economic problems with resolute determination.”

The senior Iraqi Shi’ah scholar considered bureaucracy as the source of corruption in the war-torn Arab country and said, “We have to overcome the legacies of the past dictatorship, such as bureaucracy and corrupt organizations.”

He stated, “Government officials and the people must form a cultural and moral movement, ending the legacy of the dictatorship of the past, a culture of decay and laziness.”

Ayatollah al-Modarresi called for the transfer of many services and responsibilities to the private sector and stated, “The political and administrative systems must be established in accordance with the spirit of the constitution.”

His Eminence said that a nation that needs others for the smallest issues does not benefit from civilization and progress and said, “Iraq has many opportunities and capabilities to advance in various fields such as agriculture and industry. Therefore, the government must provide the groundwork for investment and provide farmers with the necessary facilities for this activity by giving land to farmers.”

He added that the government must set up joint ventures between the public and private sectors to reduce the damage caused by the gradual transfer of responsibilities.

The renowned scholar considered the move towards the formation of an electronic government to reduce administrative corruption and said, “The formation of an electronic government would reduce the problems of people visiting government offices.”

Ayatollah al-Modarresi expressed hope for solving the problems between the Iraqi Kurdistan Region and the central government, and pointed out that with the end of the disputes, it would be better to prepare for the upcoming parliamentary elections.

Iraq’s 2018 parliamentary and provincial elections will be held on May 12, just prior to the start of the holy month of Ramadan.
