Ayatollah Ahmed Jannati, the leader of the Friday prayers in Tehran, dedicated a part of his sermon in remembrance of Martyr Murtadha Mutahhari.
“Martyr Mutahhari was an exemplary example of light whose account has been added to the virtues of the scholars.”
His eminence highlighted sincerity as a key virtue of the legendary teacher. He stated: “Martyr Mutahhari was not searching for a name or a status, he was sincere and enthusiastic and his spoken and written words were spent in service of Islam, the revolution and serving the people.”
The Ayatollah advised the youth to study the works of Martyr Mutahhari. He said: “We must advise the youth more to further their study of the works of this great martyr. The works of Martyr Mutahhari are beneficial even for the non-Muslim.”
“The works of Martyr Mutahhari provide well for the intellectual necessities of the youth. The youth can have full trust in the works of Martyr Mutahhari.”
Connecting the chain of educators and teachers to the Prophet (s) and Allah, the Friday prayer leader explained the importance of teachers. He stated: “The first educator is Allah and the second teacher is our Prophet (s). The teacher has an obligation to educate and they are responsible for the growth of their students. They must understand their value.”
Ayatollah Jannati highlighted the duty of teachers to keep their students up-to-date with the world so that they can protect the Islamic system in today’s world. He said: “The teacher must present information about the past and present condition of the world so that they are able to strengthen the Islamic system.”
Ayatollah Ahmed Jannati finished this segment of his sermon by addressing government officials. He stressed the importance of looking after the teachers in their material needs so that they can focus of their spiritual growth. He concluded: “Officials must provide for the material life of this workforce so that these hard workers can pay attention to their spiritual lives.
