Ayatollah Jawadi: UN Secretary General lacks willpower

In comments made on Thursday afternoon, eminent Shia scholar, Ayatollah Jawadi Amuli made reference to the United Nations’ withdrawal of an invitation to the Islamic Republic for the Geneva talks on Syria.

Ayatollah Jawadi Amuli, in a meeting with Hujjat Al-Islam Sayyed Mehdi Khamushi, head of Sazman-e-Tablighat said the retraction of the invitation to Iran for the Geneva talks, after only a single day had passed on the initial invite, was a clear sign of the lack of willpower on the part of the UN Secretary General.

Previously the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki Moon, had sent an invitation for the Islamic Republic to be part of the Geneva talks, however after being put under pressure from the United States and Saudi Arabia, he had to withdraw the invitation within 24-hours.

The heated Geneva talks on Syria are currently underway with difficulty in reaching an agreeable solution amid Iran’s non-invitation.
