Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi, in his class on jurisprudence yesterday, spoke about the importance of humility and humbleness in our day to day lives and touched upon some current affairs.
“The issue of humility holds a very important position in Islam. The Messenger (s), the divine prophets (s), saints and the noteworthy personalities were perfect examples of humility and we must learn from their examples.”
His eminence explained the important role of humility in building and individual and a society, he said: “A society that is built upon ethics will be pulled towards unity, accord, affection and the removal of animosity in the heart.”
He continued: “The people of knowledge should be watchful towards this and they should preserve their humility and humbleness under all situations and circumstances.”
In another part of his talk, Ayatollah Makarem addressed current affairs. He said: “There are some today who still have not understood the nature of America and the west and are completely captivated by them. If they looked at their role and their record, they would release themselves of this captivity.”
Emphasising the dark role of the west in the world, the highly respected jurists recalled: “They have desecrated the peace in our region, they have started conflicts and war in Syria, Egypt, Iraq, Pakistan and Bahrain and now they are involved in Ukraine, tussles and tensions which could turn into a new world war.”
His eminence explained further the role of the west in oppressions taking place through South America and Africa. He stated: “Innocent Muslims have been massacred and displaced in front of French and other western officers and soldiers by the hands of extremists Christians. They watched it all and not one sound was heard from them.”
Highlighting the hypocrisy present within the American government, Ayatollah Makarem stated: “We execute one drug dealer and the shouts of the Congress and the American officials reaches the skies and they say Iran is against human rights, however, all these massacres have taken place with their green light.”
Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi concluded by expressing his sadness at knowing that there are some people who still have not recognized the west, and especially America even with their dark record.
