TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran’s Intelligence Minister Mahmoud Alavi in a message underlined that the foundation of the Islamic Republic system in Iran ended for ever the US sovereignty in the country.
“On April 1, 1979, with an excellent commitment, at the call of its wise leader, with the conscious presence and unique votes of 98 percent, it chose the holy system of the Islamic Republic of Iran to run the country, and the Islamic Republic Day ended the US sovereignty,” Alavi said in his message on the occasion of the 12th of Farvardin (April 1st), the Islamic Republic Day in Iran.
He pointed out that the Islamic Republic Day in Iran is the model of religious democracy in the world and it is a role model of freedom.
The Islamic Republic was established in line with the popular motto of the 1979 Islamic Revolution that called for “Independence, Freedom and the Islamic Republic” for the country.
Since then, the Iranian nation annually celebrates Farvardin 12 on the solar calendar year, which falls on April 1 in normal years and March 31 in leap years, as the anniversary of the establishment of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The day is referred to as the Islamic Republic Day.
The Islamic Revolution, led by late Imam Khomeini, established a new political system based on Islamic values and democracy.
Iran marks Islamic Republic Day on Farvardin 12 on the solar calendar, which falls on April 1 this year.
