TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran’s Judiciary Chief Seyed Ebrahim Rayeesi strongly deplored the Saturday terrorist attack against a secondary school in Kabul, calling for relentless fight against terrorism in the region.
“I offer my condolences to the brave and resistant people of Afghanistan over the terrorist blast in Kabul and the martyrdom and injury of dozens of female students. The heartbreaking images and scenes of this incident hurt the heart of every conscientious human being,” Rayeesi said on Sunday.
He added that targeting innocent children and adolescents during the holy month of Ramadan is the work of brutal cowards who do not know Islam and humanity.
“The people of Iran are mourning and sympathizing with the people of Afghanistan, our dear neighbors, in this painful incident,” Rayeesi said.
“The non-stop fight against terrorism and occupation is the way to save the regional nations from this unfortunate situation,” he stressed.
Blasts close to a secondary school in the Afghan capital Kabul have left at least 50 people dead and more than 100 injured, officials say.
The explosions took place as students were leaving the building on Saturday, with pictures on social media showing abandoned school bags in the street.
Most of the victims were girls, a ministry of education spokeswoman said.
No-one has admitted carrying out the attack in Dasht-e-Barchi.
Afghan government officials blamed Taliban militants for the attack, but the group denied any involvement.
The explosions are believed to have been caused by a car bomb and two improvised explosive devices planted in the area.
The neighborhood in Western Kabul is home to many from the Hazara minority community, who are of Mongolian and Central Asian descent and are mainly Shiite Muslims.
