TEHRAN (Tasnim) – An international adviser to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution warned against Washington’s plots against the Damascus government and said the US military forces have been dispatched to the eastern Euphrates in a bid to disintegrate Syria.
From seven years ago, the Americans have been trying to occupy Syria and overthrow its legitimate government with the support of some regional players as well as the Israeli and Saudi regimes, Velayati told reporters after a meeting with Jan Kubis, the UN special representative for Iraq, in Tehran on Saturday.
For seven years, the US and its regional stooges have been seeking to undermine the territorial integrity of Syria, he said, adding that however, the Syrian nation has managed to thwart all of the conspiracies.
Now that all the Western-backed terrorists have been defeated in Syria, the US itself has taken direct actions and dispatched its forces to the eastern Euphrates in a bid to break up the Arab country, Velayati noted.
The remarks came after the US said it will work, along with a coalition of its allies purportedly fighting the Daesh terrorist group, with US-backed militants of the YPG-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) to set up a new 30,000-strong “border security” force.
In recent years, the Middle East has been plagued with Takfiri terrorist groups like Daesh (ISIL or ISIS), which are believed to have been created and supported by the West and some regional Arab countries.
The terrorist groups, which claim to be Islamic but whose actions are anything but, have been committing heinous crimes not only against non-Muslims but mostly against Muslims in the region.
Iraq and Syria have been among the countries gripped by terrorism.
Iran, a close ally of the two countries, has supported their legitimate governments in their campaign against foreign-backed militancy and terrorism.
